There is no better place to be than Whip-Poor-Will Lodge. Many of our guests come here to fish and the surrounding water is plentiful with northern pike, small and large mouth bass and walleye. There are also pan fish, white fish and crappie.
You can fish using your preferred technique. Using live bait and jigging on a rocky shoal; trolling the shoreline or casting a crank bait along the edge of a weed bed in one of the many quiet bays - they'll all result in success! For a change of pace, you may try a portage into one of our four remote lakes. A boat is waiting and we will supply a small outboard. There is even a muskie lake for the more adventuresome. You can get all the latest fishing information and regulations from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources including information on licensing and limits. Although most people don't request them, we have expert guides available. We provide excellent maps of the lake and surrounding area and direct you to the good fishing areas. Over 88% of our anglers practice CPR (Catch - Photograph - Release). Others donate fish to the shore dinner; have some for their own shore lunch or freeze them to take home. Activities differ from week to week. There is always a "Welcome Snack Party" and Shore Dinner but other activities include bingo and hot dog/marshmallow roasts too. We offer more than fantastic fishing. Our island retreat is a place to relax and rejuvenate. There are trails on the mainland for hiking and mountain biking. Also you can enjoy a daily canoe trip, swimming and abundant bird and wildlife viewing. Our customers enjoy complimentary use of canoes, kayaks, paddle boats, mountain bikes and water trampolines.
